Author's Note: Written for Round 11 at
kkm_challenge. Prompt: Set of 10 (or more) related one-sentence fics
The outside was the easy part to understand with the porcelain skin, amethyst eyes, and silken hair, but the inside was a complex tangle of emotions, motivations, and complications.

Most noble children his age were oblivious to the responsibilities they would one day bear, but Gunter always felt the weight of it even as he would play with hisdolls collectibles.
*
Growing up would have been lonely in the von Christ estate if it weren't for all his charming imaginary friends and their sharp wit and dashing deeds.
*
The steel was his choice, the books were his parent's, but he accepted both with such vigor, no one would ever know.
*
For most people perfection was only a lofty goal, but for Gunter it was the only option, and everything that came short was failure.
*
There was a strong drive to be the best which once achieved meant nothing to him, so he turned toward teaching others to become the best for some competition.
*
The girl was hardly a child anymore as she looked at him with incredulous eyes as green as her hair, and he wondered what he had gotten himself into.
*
He fit in perfectly with the others at Blood Pledge castle in the sense that he kept himself apart, safely behind the Gunter-shaped mask he'd created for himself.
*
The next Maou would be their salvation and the glory of the kingdom—he believed it and so it had to be so, no matter what.
*
He didn't see Yuuri as young and inexperienced, but rather as a kindred soul who would grow more kindred any day now.
