The needle flew in her hands, slipping in and out of the torn flesh, which no longer fit together correctly. Every move came naturally—or perhaps artificially—to her without so much as a thought. It would have been easy to let her mind drift while performing such a routine procedure, but she remained ever focused.
She refused to simply go through the motions, of a task, at her job, or in her life—such as it was.
She knew who she was and who she was not. And that was more than most people in the Dollhouse could claim.
