The Window
Conrad’s new room was a little smaller than the old one. Everything was new, but to save funds for more important endeavors the construction, while solid, had not been as elaborate and detailed as it was in older parts of the castle. The only part of the room that had any real work done on it was the large bay window. Because the new section was built at an angle to the old it was possible to see the garden and fountain with from that window.
Yes, the view was certainly his favorite part of the new accommodations. It was even the reason he accepted them in the first place. As a son of a former Maou he had his choice of rooms after the fire had done some impromptu remodeling.
He had even hand selected the room before it was completed and worked with the master carpenter to create a reading nook by the window. So, in his free time he can sit on the cushioned ledge and drink a cup of sweet tea while viewing the grounds from above.
At night he could sit there in the darkness where no one could see him and watch the rooms where lights still burned. And if it just so happened that his room was perfectly aligned to see into Yuuri’s room and to his bed, then that was nothing but coincidence. And if he had these nightly vigils at the same times Wolfram was gone so that Yuuri felt comfortable changing without going into his dressing room, then how could that be helped?
And if Conrad could mentally depict every dimple in his flesh and every curve of the young maou’s body then that was just the kind of attention to detail any good officer would pay, right?
Yes, Conrad found his new room to be very suitable indeed.
