kkm_challenge. Prompt: Love (the twisted sort)
It was always Cheri.
Cheri’s hair is so beautiful. Cheri’s eyes are so bright. Cheri has such a big heart. Oh, look how well Cheri charms the ambassadors. Ugh!
Cheri was sweet and full of energy and I was just “Cheri’s brother.”
It was fine at first. Well, maybe not fine, but I was lulled by her grace and unnatural magnetism too, so I forgave her for holding the court on her every whim. I forgave her for drawing all the attention in any gathering. I forgave her for being beloved.
I knew I had something that she didn’t have—a direct line to the throne. Yes, I would be a glorious leader and then all eyes would turn to me. My name would be celebrated. My image would be reproduced and blanket the walls. Songs would be sung in my illustrious honor!
But there were no songs. There wasn’t so much as a whistle or a half-hearted hum.
And why did my inevitable ascent to my proper place become…evitable?
Cheri.
It was always Cheri.
I suppose the Shinou’s will had something to do with it too, but that isn’t really the point. The point is my dear sister had once again stolen the spotlight that so rightfully should have been mine.
And that’s why I had to take something of hers. It was nothing much—a triffle, really. She hardly missed it.
It can’t be considered selfish—not when she had everything else even though she didn’t know how to handle what she had. She was as good at managing the kingdom as she was at managing her endless parade of husbands and suitors.
So, I just took it. Or should I say him?
No one had revered her more than Raven. He was supposed to be our childhood friend, but he was devoted to her utterly. So, I took him. I took something that was completely hers and made it mine.
And even if someday she recaptures her little lost lamb they will both know I was there first. My hands touched the skin too pale to have seen the sun. My lips tasted his shame. My body learned the shape of his. He was MINE.
And that can’t be taken away, not even by Cheri.

This is very true! Cheri was like, "Okay, I get to be the Maou, you get Raven. Are we cool?"
Sorry, I am still channeling Cheri to some degree. XDDD Lovely, dear. ♥
