Neither of them expected something like that. She was the best of them. They both wished they could take her place. It shouldn’t have been her. Never her. She had been hope and light. Without her there was only despair in the dark.
When his hand tangled in green hair he saw only the soft shades of blue and the shock of white. And when she kissed the swordsman’s lips she convinced herself they were as soft as she always imagined.
They parted wordlessly at daybreak. Conrad had been summoned to the temple and Gisela had more healing to do.
