Gwendal studied his face in the mirror. He saw no trace of these "wrinkles" everyone always mentioned. If he was serious then it was only because there were such serious matters to which to attend.

They couldn't all afford to be as free spirited as the recent rulers. Someone needed to keep the cogs in motion and no one else was volunteering. Well, except Anissina, but then someone had to save the others from that too.

He sighed at his reflection. Maybe he just couldn't see the wrinkles through all the cracks. What was it mother said about bad luck?
